A new $30, 000 ad campaign that the provincial government is hoping will alleviate some mixed messages about new nursing home policies, is drawing some mixed reviews.
The Executive Director for New Brunswick’s Coalition for Seniors says she has received a lot of calls from seniors who say there is a lot of confusion over the ads.
Cecile Cassista says the ads imply that the policy already in place. She says, “It’s a mixed message, when you read it, it says that basically they’re subsidizing all of the homes. What we’re reading is misinformation.”
She says it also suggests that the policy is already in place.
Social Development Minister Cathy Rogers says the ads are called “Get the Real Facts on Nursing Home Costs” and they specify which assets will be considered when the government looks at how a senior will pay for their care.
