Seniors are getting a big helping hand from the federal governernment.
The New Horizons for Seniors Program gives funding to organizations for community-based projects that are led or inspired by seniors.
MP for South-West New Brunswick, John Williamson announcing over $59,000 being awarded to three separate projects in Charlotte County, “Often, we are in the larger centres, and this program is designed to help community halls and community programs that focus on seniors and seniors’ wellbeing.”
Williamson says the beauty of this program, while it’s not “big dollars”, it is geared towards facilities like the Little Ridge Community Club that support senior involvement and senior activity.
The organizations awarded funding through the program are the Little Ridge Community Club for renovations, the Town of St. Stephen to create a series of exercize classes and activities for seniors, as well as the McAdam Railway Station to create educational events centering around the historical significance of the station.
