City police staff sergeant Tanya Leblanc is the first woman in the history of the force to be promoted to the rank of Inspector.
Leblanc graduated from the Atlantic police academy in 1989 and joined the Saint John Police Force in July of 1990.
She has worked patrol, family protection and major crime before becoming a sergeant in 2005. She moved up to Staff Sergeant 5 years ago and this year to Inspector.
