If you happen upon a new fawn over the next few weeks, leave it alone because its mom is likely coming back.
Deer biologist Joe Kennedy tells us during the natural feeding cycles, does will often leave their fawns alone for 6 to 8 hours which is normal.
He says when people see fawns alone in the woods they think they have been abandoned but Kennedy says does have strong mothering instincts and will always come back to their fawns.
Kennedy says the deer tending to give birth wherever the doe is at the time which could be in wooded areas and subdivisions.
