A Canadian Cancer Society report finds over the next 15 years cancer rates should rise significantly.
Dr. Eshwar Kumar of the New Brunswick Cancer Centre says increased screening will help and a cervical cancer screening program is already in place and a colorectal screening is being added as well.
He says it’s already being phased in across the province and they hope to have it provide wide by 2017.
The four most diagnosed cancers in New Brunswick are lung, breast, colorectal and prostate.
More than one-quarter of all cancer deaths are due to lung cancer.
