In the Majors, the Yankees got 7 runs off Seattle ace Felix Hernandez including a grand slam by Mark Teixeira for a 7-2 win over the Mariners……The Blue Jays game in Washington and the Red Sox at home against Minnesota were both rained out.
In the National League, Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw had three hits and pitched Los Angeles to an 11-4 win over Colorado….In the late games out west, Jacob DeGrom had a perfect game into the 6th inning as the New York Mets blanked San Diego 7-0…….Pittsburgh over the Giants 4-3 and the Los Angeles Angels smashed four homers in a 7-3 win over Tampa Bay.
FIFA’s Secretary General Jerome Valcke has cancelled his trip to Canada for the opening of the Women’s World Cup this weekend in the aftermath of a Swiss and American investigation into soccer corruption. According to the New York Times, U.S. authorities say Valcke allegedly made $10 million in payments at the centre of the scandal. He’s not one of the officials who were arrested last week in Switzerland.
