A controversial, six-foot tall cedar hedge now has it’s own website.
Savethehedge.com has been created in an effort to generate support for the 50+ year old hedge that surrounds 94 King Street in St. Andrews.
The Town of St. Andrews and owner Tom O’Connor have both lawyered up, after the Town sighted safety issues for that corner due to the hedge blocking the sight of traffic.
O’Connor says the hedge has been there for as long as anyone can remember, and he has never heard of any traffic issues or accidents in the past.
The website comes complete with before and (maybe) after pictures, diagrams, details on the Town of St. Andrews engineer’s report, possible solutions or options to cutting the hedge, the history behind the property, as well as a petition to sign to keep the hedge.
In 1991, the March edition of Reader’s Digest dubbed it “The Most Handsome Corner in Canada”.
