New Brunswick lost 53 hundred fulltime jobs last month but despite that, the unemployment rate provincially fell from 9.9 to 9.6 per cent.
The unemployment rate in Saint John dropped from 8.1 to 7.4 per cent while in Moncton, it went up from 7.2 to 7.7 per cent.
Premier Brian Gallant says tough choices have to be made and he has issued a challenge to the Opposition Conservatives. The Premier defends his government’s record on the economy, saying since being elected last September, there has been the net creation of an estimated 25 hundred jobs.
The province saw the addition of 25 hundred part time jobs last month. Nationally, the unemployment rate stayed the same at 6.8 per cent.
