A statement from the RCMP Superintendant says the rollout of carbines, and the training needed for its officers is on schedule.
Paul Beauchesne made his statement yesterday to the Codiac Regional Policing Authority.
He says carbine racks in police cars are being installed, and the majority should be completed by the end of this week.
He says carbine training is also ongoing.
Beauchesne also defended the RCMP’s decision not to release the number of carbines that are at Codiac, because they do not want that information shared with the criminals in our community.
The Superintendant also confirmed that 20 Codiac RCMP members have requested to be transferred out of the district, due to what happened on June 4th last year. Beauchesne says this is not unreasonable or unexpected due to the scope of the tragedy.
