The Regional Hospital Foundation is asking donors to The Give to be patient after the provincial government cancelled the purchase of genetic sequencing equipment.
The Foundation reports there have been positive and productive discussions with the provincial government which has been presented with new information on the rationale for the purchase which was approved by the previous government.
Provincial Health Minister Victor Boudreau questions the need since the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute in Moncton already has four such machines paid for by the federal government which he claims more than meets the demand in the province.
