Over 5 million dollars from Ottawa will help protect New Brunswick forests from bugs.
Federal Natural Resources Minister Greg Rickford announcing the funding to expand research on spruce budworm at the Atlantic Forestry Centre in Fredericton.
It will also bring some new technology for research relating to weather and trees.
He says they are bringing weather forecasting technology already in use in Ottawa adding they see a real opporotunity for it in the Acadia Research Forest.
Profits from the forestry sector in Canada reached 2.7 billion in 2013.
