The Gagetown Ferry is being fixed and the province hopes to have it back in service early next month.
It was taken out of service last February after a routine inspection.
In a news release, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Roger Melanson says he understands there has been some frustration with the status of the ferry but he says the government could not make any decision until they understood more about the required repairs.
A further inspection of the ferry could only be carried out once the ice cleared from the St. John River.
It’s expected that once it’s back up and running the Gagetown ferry will operate on a reduced schedule of 6am to 10pm daily with a new vehicle volume and weight restrictions.
