Duncan Keith scored in the second period and Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist as the Chicago Blackhawks shut out the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 in Game 6 for their third Stanley Cup in the past six seasons. Keith won the Conn Smythe trophy as the Most Valuable Player in the playoffs. Corey Crawford, the former Moncton Wildcat, made 25 saves for his fifth career playoff shutout which included stopping Steven Stamkos on a breakaway.
In the Majors, the Blue Jays’ 11 game winning streak coming to an end as the New York Mets score two runs in the bottom of the 11th for a 4-3 win…..The Red Sox lose their 7th straight, 4-2 to Atlanta and the Yankees lost to Miami 2-1. Tampa Bay takes a one game lead in the American League East with a 6-1 win over Washington. The Rays have won 12 of their last 16 games.
In the Women’s World Cup, Canada and the Netherlands tied 1-1. Canada is first in its grouping….Germany shut out Thailand 4-nil…..Norway over Cote D’Ivoire 3-1 with China and New Zealand tying 2-2.
