It’s a crime most people can’t even imagine committing.
Cpl. Jayson Hansen says the office and counter services at the St. George RCMP detachment are closed for at least the next 24 to 48 hours, after someone broke into the building this morning and destroyed anything that was breakable.
A 27 year old Saint John man has been arrested in connection to the break and enter.
Hansen says computer and office equipment were destroyed, and all office windows smashed, including the front counter partition. He says the windshields of all police cruisers and private vehicles parked outside are also smashed out.
Police say the suspect is due in court later today in Saint John.
Hansen also adds that services, like criminal record checks, will be delayed while they deal with the investigation and priority calls for service. Some civilian office staff will also be temporarily displaced to St. Stephen and Saint Andrews for the time being.
