Over $100,000 from the Feds and the Province to entrepreneurs get out of the basement and help them find support for their ideas.
ConnexionWorks in the Aliant tower will house the Vennture Garage which is office space for people with early stage ideas.
Mark Breen is the Managing Director for the Vennture Garage.
He says it’s a space for entrepreneurs to come and they will wrap resources around them and help them validate their idea.
He adds they will examine it and see if anyone wants to buy your million dollar idea.
Breen says they begin with a lean canvas which is a very preliminary business plan that you can create in 30 minutes.
Kelly Lawson is getting help from the Vennture Garage for her concept of an online consignment store named Ella and the response has good so far with a Facebook buy/sell group for women only.
She tells us that Facebook group has grown to over 1000 Saint John women that are buying and selling pre-owned clothing and accessories which she takes as a good indication of a need for this type of thing.
Lawson says ConnexionWorks gives her the chance to bounce ideas of others entrepreneurs in a similar situation.
