Moncton’s time in the FIFA Women’s World Cup spotlight may be over but organizers believe the matches at Moncton Stadium will resonate in the community for many years to come.
FIFA Moncton spokesperson Stephane Delisle says it was the fans that truly made the experience exciting and world-class.
“Not only the matches and the calibre of play we saw here in Moncton but really the way the community came together to support the event and attended. And not just showing up but showing up by bringing enthusiasm… and the atmosphere.”
Delisle says more than 78,000 fans came out to Moncton Stadium for seven matches over five days which should bode well for future events in the community.
He adds the full impact of the event and the tournament won’t be known until later this summer.
