Finance Minister Roger Melanson says a review of the tender process will take place following the provincial government’s decision to cancel a snowplow manufacturing contract awarded to a Quebec company.
An outcry from Conservative MLA’s erupted after the Quebec company was awarded the bid which was $1,600 higher than Craig Manufacturing of Hartland.
Melanson says he’s not sure how the contract came about but the provincial jobs board will be reviewing the matter.
“How we can see more job creation in the province of New Brunswick. How we can set some conditions, better conditions for New Brunswick companies to create jobs in the province and to make some recommendations on how we can deal with these types of situations.”
Melanson adds he’s unable to say whether or not there will be any legal action from the Quebec company now that the province has cancelled the contract.
