The mayor of Campbellton says he hopes the province will quickly implement the exotic animal task force’s recommendations.
The city gained worldwide attention in 2013 after the Barthe boys were strangled to death by an African rock python in an apartment above a pet store.
Bruce MacIntosh says he’s especially concerned about security surrounding these types of animals.
“We do have to have some security within these facilities. Not only for the citizens but also for the animals themselves.”
MacIntosh adds many municipalities in Quebec and Ontario seem very interested in the exotic animal task force report and how its recommendations may be put in place.
