RCMP are investigating a report that gun shots were fired in the Shediac River Road area, just north of Shediac.
Police say a teenaged boy claims he came across a man yelling at him in a wooded area around 5 p.m. yesterday.
The boy believes he heard gun shots fired in his direction.
He fled the woods and was not hurt.
Mounties conducted a ground search of the area and also utlilized the RCMP helicopter but the search was called off last night when it became too dark.
RCMP say residents will notice an increased police presence in that area today as the search continues.
If anyone has information about this incident, they are asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
