The city maintains a roundabout is not practical at Simms Corner as a way keeping the traffic flowing and getting drivers straight on to Fairville Boulevard instead of having to make the turn just beyond Tim Hortons at Romano’s Pizza.
Councillor Bill Farren believes a roundabout would be a better solution than the installation of lights because it would keep the traffic moving better instead of stopping and starting with traffic lights which he believes would cause backups to develop.
Farren also argues a roundabout would be cheaper but the city questions whether there’s enough land for a two lane traffic circle and there might be an issue with ownership of the land that would be needed. As well, there are the railway tracks to contend with.
