ESPN is reporting LeBron James will become a free agent on Wednesday but is expected to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In the Majors, Josh Donaldson hits his 18th homer of the season as the Blue Jays get by Texas 3-2 behind Drew Hutchison who won for the fifth straight time……..Homers by David Ortiz and Pablo Sandoval lead the Red Sox to a 5-3 win over Tampa Bay….The Yankees lose to Houston 3-1 and Baltimore takes two from Cleveland, 4-0 and 8-0. The O’s are now first in the American League East, a few percentage points ahead of the Rays. The Yankees are a half game back and the Blue Jays are one game behind.
In the National League, Zach Grienke has pitched 20 and two-thirds scoreless innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers blank Miami 2-0 and Steven Matz in his Major League debut with the Mets not only won his first ever start over Cincinnati 7-2 but also drove in four runs which has never been done before. Last night, St. Louis swept the Cubs in a three game series, 4-1.
The East Coast Games wrapped up with about a thousand athletes in town for the weekend. Planning for next year’s event will be discussed this week by the Organisation Committee.
