Music is in the air in Moncton as the Youth Orchestra of the Americas holds its residency program in Moncton.
CEO of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra Ken MacLeod says the International orchestra is made up of 80 musicians, between the ages of 18 and 30, selected from 30 countries, and they are joined by 40 others including Conductors, Composers, Guest Artists and Faculty.
He says, “This is the first residency they have ever done in Canada and they have chosen to do it with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra and Sistema New Brunswick and in our province. It is a great honour to be able to host this collection of world class artists.”
The residency program is being held at Crandall University, and it includes seminars, workshops and rehearsals for the upcoming Pan-AM games being held in Toronto.
The YOA Orchestra will also offer some guidance and coaching to those involved in the provinces youth orchestra and to students in Sistema.
The residency program runs until July 17th.
The YOA Orchestra of the Americas: Pan American Tour makes a stop in Saint John on July 15 at the Imperial Theatre at 7:30pm.
