Atlantic Lotto players are being targetted by scammers.
The corporation says several Maritimers have received calls lately claiming they’ve won a big prize.
The caller says to retrieve the jackpot, taxes and fees need to be paid .. to them!
Christine Manore of Atlantic Lotto says in the real world, it doesn’t work that way.
“Canadian lotteries don’t send out unsolicited cheques and do not require tax payments, administration fees or anything that you’d have to pay in advance before you receive your prize.”
Atlantic Lotto says if you think you’ve been scammed, contact your local police or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

To be eligible for a lottery prize from Atlantic Lottery, you must be 19+ and have purchased a ticket from an authorized retailer in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland & Labrador, or on the alc.ca website.
Canadian lotteries only operate lotteries, games of chance or contests in their own jurisdiction. Atlantic Lottery only operates in Atlantic Canada.
