In what at times looked like a Conservative campaign rally, Saint John MP Rodney Weston announcing more than $68 million dollars for the port’s West side modernization project at a news conference at the Diamond Jubileee Cruise Development.
Port CEO Jim Quinn was asked if he has concerns about the provincial government’s support for the project as they were not represented today.
He says the province has been supportive and they will be meeting with them in the coming days.
Portland-Simonds MLA Trevor Holder would not comment on the Gallant government’s decision to send a report on the Larry’s Gulch list-altering controversy to the public prosecutor.
He says there is nothing further to add saying everything that has been said has been said.
Meanwhile, Holder did say the provincial government should step up and contribute to Port Saint John’s modernization project.
He says the Gallant Liberals better see this port project as a priority adding he couldn’t get a straight answer on it when he asked the Premier months ago.
We asked if the province was invited to take part in the Port announcement this morning in Saint John.
The Premier’s office tells CHSJ News the Province was invited by Infrastructure Canada to take part on July 2nd and told the next day the event was just to announce federal funding.
