The Sea Dogs have signed free-agent forward and Whitby, Ontario native Dawson Theede. He played for the Cobourg Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League last season and is expected to join the Sea Dogs when training camp opens in August.
In the Majors, Josh Donaldson hit a home run in the fourth inning to break the 1-1 tie and help lead the Toronto Blue Jays to 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Donaldson has homered for two straight games and this one marks his 21st overall.
Meantime in the opener of a three-game series at Yankee Stadium Brett Lawrie hitting a home run in the top of the 10th inning to bring the Oakland A’s a 4-3 win over the New York Yankees.
