A senior petroleum analyst says the upcoming fall maintenance project at the Saint John Irving Oil refinery should not have much of an impact on gas prices.
Dan McTeague with Gasbuddy.com says so-called Operation Falcon has been in the works for a while now.
“Irving has given plenty of notice to the market that this is taking place. It too has ramped up its supplies to meet any potential draws as have other refineries,” he notes.
McTeague also notes Irving Oil has worked previously with the Come-by-Chance refinery in Newfoundland to ensure that there isn’t a supply shortage.
Irving Oil will invest $200 million in Operation Falcon at the Saint John refinery this fall which will employ about 3,000 tradespeople.
