Liberal Alaina Lockhart is the new MP for the riding of Fundy Royal, also becoming the first female to do so.
Lockhart says despite the history in that riding, her party never gave up hope.
Fundy Royal has supported the Conservative party in every election for the past century with the exception of 1993 when Liberal Paul Zed won the riding.
Lockhart says part of the reason she ran was to inspire young women to get involved in politics.
Ousted Conservative MP Rob Moore congratulating Lockhart after her victory and says he’s looking forward to what’s next but isn’t sure what that is yet.
