Former Police Chief for Fredericton Barrie MacKnight appointed by the New Brunswick Police Commission to investigate allegations against Saint John Deputy Police Chief Glen McCloskey that were made during the course of the second degree murder trial of Dennis Oland.
The new Saint John Police Chief John Bates made the request.
The investigation follows testimony during Dennis Oland’s second-degree murder trial when retired Staff Sergeant Mike King suggested McCloskey encouraged him to lie under oath about events that occurred during the Richard Oland murder case.
McCloskey has denied the claims made by King.
The New Brunswick Police Commission says the investigation will not begin until the Oland trial has concluded.
