A city police officer going above and beyond following the routine check of a commercial truck on Rothesay Avenue early this morning that turned out to be stolen.
When police approached the vehicle, they noticed the driver’s side window had been broken out.
The truck took off with a police officer hanging onto the side. He grabbed hold of the steering wheel and the truck came to a stop before it ran into a telephone pole.
The two men inside then ran off but were nabbed.
They’re looking at charges of theft, possession of burglary tools, causing damage over 5 thousand dollars, dangerous driving, resisting arrest, uttering threats against police and violating their court orders.
