Saint John Police looking for a man accused of stealing a car last night, resulting in a high speed chase.
Sergeant Ron Cooper tells CHSJ news police were alerted of a break and enter at a residence in Hampton, where a 2012 Toyota Camry was stolen.
Cooper says at 8pm last night, an officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull the suspect over, when he fled on the Manawagonish road onto Highway 7 towards Grand Bay.
Cooper says the pursuit continued and the suspect then took exit 177 to head back towards Saint John.
Officers were on the Westfield Road heading towards the pursuit, they pulled over and laid down a spike belt to stop the vehicle.
Cooper says the belt was able to flatten a couple of tires on the vehicle then the driver slightly lost control.
The suspect then jumped out of the vehicle and took off into the woods.
Cooper says the K-9 unit was brought in to check out the area, but could not locate the suspect.
The suspect is said to be approximately 25 years old.
