Young readers spent a lot of time reading this past summer, that according to the results of the province’s 2015 Summer Reading Club Program.
They read over 320, 000 books, magazine or websites, that’s up almost 10 per cent from last year.
This is the fifth year in a row that the number of books has got up.
Almost 12, 000 children enrolled in the program this past summer, that’s the highest in more than a decade.
Stats from the reading program are gathered from 63 public libraries in the province over the month of September, while the information is compiled by the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour.
