Horizon Health is making some policy changes on visiting hours and treating the mentally ill.
Early next year, traditional visiting hours will be scrapped for close family members under the Family Presence Policy that will sllow them to be with their loved ones 24/7 if necessary.
One of the recommendations from the Serena Perry inquest is going to be adopted in a new programme so provide more support from family members and friends in the community for people suffering from mental disorders.
It means they won’t necessarily be hospitalised as a matter of course.
