Back in the so called “old days”, payphones were a common sight in public places, and now, people tend to gather at WiFi access points.
Brian Woods is the Information Technology Manager for Saint John, he says a lot of improvements have been made for public Internet service in the city over the past year.
WiFi service was added down Water Street, King Street and Harbour Passage to tie into the walking plan for Saint John.
Woods says the goal is to work on and add additional WiFi access points in the city.
He says the access is beneficial to both locals and tourists, who can stay connected with work, family and their city while visiting Saint John.
Woods says it’s not just a municipal project, he says for every dollar provided by the city, other outside organizations followed suit.
