Residents on Merritt Hill Road in Quispamsis are not happy with the way the town plans on handling garbage and recycling pick up, starting on January 1st.
Ernie Turner lives on the road, he says the new contract between the town and Fero Waste & Recycling will negatively impact senior citizens in the area.
Turner doesn’t think the town took into account how many seniors with mobility issues who live in the area.
The new contract associated with picking up garbage will require residents to carry their garbage up to 100 metres, when for the past decade or so, garbage was picked up directly in front of their homes.
The new four year contract will cut the garbage collection costs in half for most residents.
