No one hurt but a Darling’s Island home was destroyed by fire today.
Crews from Hampton and K.V. assisting firefighters from Nauwigewauk in battling the blaze.
Fire Chief Blair Wannamaker says crews encountered heavy fire when they arrived on scene and the home couldn’t be saved.
He tells us the home is a total loss.
Wannamaker says crews got the call just after 1pm and they quickly knocked it down but it was a fully engulfed structure.
He says a mother and son noticed the fire in a wood stove and tried to put it out but it was too big.
