No decision yet on the appeal by the Charlotte County Barristers Society to prevent the closure of provincial courthouses in St. Stephen and Grand Manan.
Mr. Justice Terrence Morrison hearing arguments at the Court of Queen’s Bench in Saint John from William Gould representing the province and Andrew Rouse for the Barristers Society.
Mr. Justice Morrison says he will issue a written decision tomorrow on the timing aspect–did the province adequately notify the public of the impending closure? Rouse argues that proper notice was not given because no one was told of the exact closing date of November 1st.
Gould maintains the Barrister’s Association is out of time because the closures were announced in the March provincial budget.
