The New Brunswick Nurses Union putting the spotlight on the problem of workplace violence in nursing homes.
Union President Marilyn Quinn says a poll was conducted last year of 115 registered nurses who were working in nursing homes. It revealed 65 per cent of them had been physically abused and 78 per cent had been verbally abused.
Quinn says the first phase of the Nursing Home Violence Prevention Initiative is to spread the message that violence is not part of the job.
