Common Council has scheduled a special meeting this afternoon on how to move forward with construction of the water treatment plant.
The project is estimated to cost 230 million dollars.
A funding agreement had been signed with the previous Conservative Government for a public-private partnership and three companies have been shortlisted.
We have been told Council doesn’t want to hold off to see what the infrastructure spending plans of the new Liberal Government will be under Prime Minister Trudeau.
Councillors earlier were sent a letter from the former head of Municipal Operations for the city, Paul Groody with arguments against a public-private partnership on water.
