Employment improved last month, increasing by 44,000 in October. The national unemployment dropped slightly to 7 per cent.
Stats Canada is reporting there were 41 hundred new jobs in New Brunswick but the unemployment rate stayed at 9 per cent because more people were out looking for work.
The unemployment rate decreased in Saint John from 8.5 down to 7.7 per cent while Moncton also saw a decline from 6.9 to 6.2 per cent.
The number of people working in Canada last month exceeded 18 million for the first time ever.
In October, employment increased for women aged 55 and older but fell among women between the ages of 25 to 54. There was little change for the other demographic groups.
