The Liberals promised a new era of cooperation and discussion between the federal government and their provincial and territorial counterparts.
To that end, new Health Minister Jane Philpott says she plans to begin talks next week with the provinces and territories about a new health accord.
This promise to negotiate a new health accord comes after the previous Conservative government announced they would not renew the agreement which expired in 2014.
Philpott announced she will be attending a health ministers conference in January, as part of this new spirit of federal-provincial cooperation.
She is also the first physician to be given the role of Health Minister since 1935.
