A well known Maritimer will now be forever remembered in Sudbury, Ontario.
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Stompin Tom Connors has touched all Canadians in one way or another.
Executive Director of the Downtown Sudbury Business Improvement area Maureen Luomo says a bronze statue of Connors now stands in their City, “He was such a Canadian musical icon, we just didn’t want that to be forgotten.”
She says there was a feeling of kinship, because of the fact that his song Sudbury Saturday Night was written there, a statue just seemed to make sense to them.
Stompin Tom passed away in March of 2013.
