A Legislature Committee will be questioning the Official Languages Commissioner Katherine d’Entremont this afternoon and there’s little doubt the controversy over her filing her own complaint against a unilingual commissionaire in Fredericton who couldn’t speak french will come up.
This controversy first came to the public eye when the leader of the People’s Alliance Party, Kris Austin called on the provincial government to review the Official Languages Act. Austin warns if nothing is done, he fears there will just be more animosity and division.
Now it has come to light the province is reviewing whether threre are too many government watchdogs in place.
