Harbour Station filled to capacity again for another moving Remembrance Day ceremony. The Master of Ceremonies, Bernie Cormier says even he has to pause because the service gets so emotional.
Newly appointed Saint John Police Chief John Bates says he was very impressed with the service, pointing out the number of young people in attendance was very heart warming.
14-year-old Sophia Wilcott read the poem “In Flanders Fields”, saying it was a proud moment for her.
Roughly 35,000 people attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. It’s the site where Corporal Nathan Cirillo was shot and killed by a terrorist before an attack on Parliament Hill last year. Rabbi Reuven P. Bulka says it serves as a constant reminder.
Students at Bayview Elementary School and teacher Mike Roy wrote an original song for Remembrance Day. They want to find a way to sell this single for $1.00 or maybe $2.00 and donate all proceeds to a veterans organization. Local musician, Adam Washburn, also lent his time and talents to help coach the children.
