An organization which helps adoptive parents in their journey is expanding in the province.
The New Brunswick Adoption Support Network currently has staff members in Moncton and Saint John but is now adding a staff person in the Acadian Peninsula to serve the north.
Spokesperson Suzanne Kingston says many children coming from their birth homes or even multiple foster homes have experienced trauma.
“So it’s really important when you are parenting kids who have gone through those experiences, that you have other people who can relate to your experiences,” she notes.
Kingston adds having a support network can also mean connecting issues or to connect with specialists and experts if that’s needed.
