CUPE is warning that the Horizon Health Network will reduce or close cafeteria services next month in all hospitals.
Local 1252 representing cafeteria workers were notified of the coming reduction of services.
President Norma Robinson says they were informed that 13 full-time equivalent positions are impacted by the decision which will affect 25 workers.
Robinson says all hospitals are affected but once more rural New Brunswick will be hit the hardest.
She says they were told the cafeteria services will be completely closed in Sussex, St. Stephen and Centrecare and cafeteria hours at all other Horizon network facilities will be reduced.
Robinson adds they keep seeing reductions in service from the Horizon Health Network but never a reduction to the upper echelons of management.
We have reached out to Horizon Health for their reaction to this and we received the following statement via email:
“Our current priority is to ensure our affected staff are notified of their options and to assist them through the adjustment process.”
