Common Council deciding to table the capital budget for 2016.
Councillor Bill Farren tells CHSJ news he’s shocked it wasn’t passed.
He says it’s not a forward motion, saying council is stagnant now until the operations budget is finalized.
Mayor Mel Norton says taking care of the capital budget first eliminates the risk that an operating expense would be funded through capital expenditure.
Greg Norton was the only other councillor, aside from Bill Farren, who wanted to pass the capital budget.
Compared to the draft capital budget released two weeks ago, a new Handi-Bus was added.
The capital budget will be looked at again over the coming weeks.
