The COMEX bus service isn’t working and Quispamsis could save a penny or so on the town’s tax rate by not funding it to the tune of 155 thousand dollars. So claims Councillor Pierre Rioux as town council has to decide whether to raise the tax rate next year by more than 3 cents.
Councillor Emil Olsen says stagnant economic growth is hurting ridership but the service is a godsend to those people who don’t have vehicles.
Quispamsis Mayor Murray Driscoll says if the COMEX bus service is to survive, some way must be found to boost ridership. Driscoll does say those people who use the service are hooked.
