A status quo budget next year being proposed by Community Services in Quispamsis which includes recreation but it also has some big ticket items.
The Manager of Community Services, Dana Purton-Dickson says the budget, if approved, would include over 100 thousand dollars to fix cracking in the concrete at the Q-Plex which opened in 2011. Also being proposed is the installation of piping to keep the main entrance clear of snow and 150 thousand dollars to improve ventilation inside the Q-Plex.
200 thousand dollars is being proposed for the installation of lighting at Meenan’s Cove ball field. The lighting will open up an additional 14 time slots, 230 thousand dollars to stabalise a wall at the Quispamsis Memorial Arena and 300 thousand dollars to expand and upgrade the double boat launch at Meenan’s Cove which may be lower in cost with grant money.
Mayor Murray Driscoll is suggesting perhaps the cost could also be offset by boaters purchasing seasonal permits.
