After a fire devastated a local favorite Christmas shop last February, the business is now back up and running.
With a slight name change, owner of Baring Gifts at Knock On Wood in Baring, Maine, Candy Bridges says she is relieved they were able to open ahead of Black Friday, and she’s had lots of support. “Everywhere we went, everyone was happy we were rebuilding, they loved the new building and the looks of it, and couldn’t wait to get into it. All along the community support was huge.”
Bridges tells us it has been an adjustment for everyone because it’s not the same Knock On Wood. She says they still sell all the same products, but the store looks completely different, with an open concept of one big room, rather than lots of little rooms like before. “We knew we had to get the same collectables that everyone wanted and came in to Knock On Wood for. So to have that in the store was important for me – to make sure the customers are happy.”
She also says they have added a seating area and a fireplace for husbands who are waiting for their wives, and are currently working towards opening a cafe in the near future.
