A Springfield woman wants the province to pay the full cost of repairing damage on her property after the big rainstorm in late September.
Over 100 millimetres of rain fell in the storm and a culvert near MacKenzie Smith’s property overflowed ruining a large part of her property.
She tells us she has had trouble reaching the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure and the person who can authorize repair work won’t return her calls.
She says the government’s infrastruture failed and now she has to pay for the damage that it caused.
Smith has been told the government would only pay one third the cost to fix it if the work is approved.
The written quote she had prepared estimated the cost at $25,000.
We have reached out to the province for a response.
